Howdy All Cowboys and Cowgirls,

 

Well, most of the rain held off for us but I don’t think any of us got wet from the little rain we did get.  It was chilly but I have shivered more.  Glad to see all of y’all and wish we had of seen more of you.

 

Congrats to Major B. S. Walker as Overall match winner and Congrats to Lefty Spurmaker as the only CAD. 

 

Don’t forget the “The Gathering on the Mattaponi” is just around the corner.  Don’t miss out, get your application in today.  Attached is an application; just complete and follow the instructions.

 

Mattaponi Sundowners will be shooting again next Saturday.  Stages to come out later in the week.  If there are any changes to the schedule we will let you know.  Hope you can join us.

Mattaponi Sundowners match for Sunday Feb 17

Howdy All Cowboys and Cowgirls,

Attached is the stages for the match at the Mattaponi Sundowners on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019.  The match is written by Ripsaw. Come out and shoot an exciting match.

The gates will open at 1000, safety meeting at 1200 and shooting starts at 1230.

The weather is uncertain at this time for Sunday but we will keep an eye on it.  If we need to make changes or cancellation we will notify you by email as soon as we can.

West Point Double action Match Feb 14 2019

The West Point Gun Club will be having their monthly Double Action match this Thursday, Feb 14th. The gates open at 8:00 AM, setup starts at 8:30 AM, sign up starts at 8:30 AM and shooting starts at 10:00 AM. In addition to our 6 stage Double Action match, we will be having the following:
 
    – 20 round J-Frame (5 shot, short barrel) stage
    – 28 round 1911 stage using Wild Bunch Rules (smaller frame carry 1911’s are OK to use)
    – We will also be shooting a 29 round stage (24 with normal DA Firearm then 5 rounds with a J-Frame) this will be one of the 6 DA stages.
 
Also if there is time after the normal stages have been completed we may have another 1911 stage so you may want to bring extra ammo for the 1911.
 
As normal all stages are shot using adult caliber firearms (center fire) and no lasers, red dot or other optics are allowed.

Howdy all Cowboys and Cowgirls,

 

It started out as a cold day and ended as a cool day but it could have been much worse with wind or snow.  Thanks to Cody for good stages and I see some needed to practice with the clay and their rifle.  We missed many of you being with us today.  It was good to see Frio Canyon Ranger stop by to visit, too bad he did have some of his wool vest for sale today.

 

Congrats to Cody Maverick as Overall Match Winner and to Cody Maverick, Major B. S. Walker, Flatboat Bob and One Eyed Jane for shooting CAD.

 

Next weekend will be Pungo on Saturday and Cavalier on Sunday.  Hope y’all have a good week.

Howdy all Cowboys and Cowgirls,

 

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be holding a match on Saturday, Jan. 26. The match is written by Cody Maverick and looks to be fun with choices and challenges.  Gates will open at 0830, safety meeting at 0930 and shooting starts at 1000.

 

The weather looks cool to start but sunny and warming up to the mid 40’s.  Dress warmly.

Sunday with Mattaponi Sundowners

Howdy all Cowboys and Cowgirls,

 

The weather guessers are telling us the rain we be gone by match time on Sunday.  However, with the sharp drop in temperatures throughout the morning and afternoon and wind of 15-20 with higher gusts we have decided to cancel the match on Sunday. 

 

Our next scheduled match will be Saturday, January 26, 2019.  More details to come on that match.

Howdy all Cowboys and Cowgirls,

 

Mattaponi Sundowners will be shooting this Sunday, Jan. 20.  The gates will open at 1030, safety meeting at 1200 and shooting starts at 1230.  Looks to be a great match written by Major B. S. Walker.

 

The weather isn’t looking to good for us with another weekend storm coming in on Sunday.  Keep an eye on your email.  If the match is called a NO GO, we will send out a message via email as soon as we can get a good look at the forecast.

Had a fun day of shooting today!  Although it was a little cooler than we expected, it was a nice day.  Of course, the 22s did not like the cold.  
 
Congrats to Beartooth who came in First and Last in the Cowboy Class and to Kjdd at Heart and Don Fenton for their wins in the Limited and Open Classes, respectively.
 
Thank you again, Kidd for keeping score.
 
Next match will be on 06 FEB; hope to see everyone there!

‘m cancelling the West Point Gun Club Double Action match for this coming Thursday. I’m at home now but if I tried to do the match I would be back in the hospital because Jane would shoot me. I also talked to Flatboat Bob and we decided to just cancel the Match.
