Mattaponi Sundowners: Monthly Saturday Match August 26

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be hosting a Cowboy Action match this coming Saturday August 26 at the West Point Gun Club.
 
Gates will open at 8:00, the safety meeting will be at 9:45, and we start shooting at 10:00
 
“Cowboy Cool” is optional.  Shorts, T-shirts, & Tennis Shoes are allowed but baseball caps or open-toe shoes are not.
 
Stages by Ripsaw attached.  Hope you can join us at the last East-Central Virginia match before the state championship.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Saturday Results

Eight of us finished today’s match around noon, before the hot part of the day.  The weather was quite pleasant for July.  Tents and fans helped keep us comfortable.
 
Congratulations to the winner – Ripsaw – and to the clean shooters: Ripsaw, Mac Moshannon, and Swifty McDraw.
 
Our next match will be Sunday Aug 20, then Saturday Aug 26, followed by the VA State Championship (hosted by the Cavalier Cowboys) on September 1, 2, 3.

Ladies, Gentlemen, & Students of All Ages,

 There will be a SASS RO2 class held at the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club in Charlottesville, VA on Sun 8/20. Redrider Slim will be the RO instructor for  this class. Details are as follows:

 Date/Time : Sunday Aug 20/10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Relaxed Dress Code will be in effect for Saturday’s cowboy match at West Point.
 
Shorts, T-Shirts, & Tennis Shoes will be permitted.  No baseball caps or open-toe shoes.
 
We will have plenty of water and tents, with fans if necessary.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Sunday Rainout

Howdy Folks,
 
Well, in case you didn’t know, it rained in Mattaponi today – a lot.  After some hard rain with no breaks, the monsoon started.
 
We had planned for hot weather.  We had tents over the firing line, we had lots of fans running, and the cooler was full of icy cold water.  The rain was supposed to wait until we were done!  “Win some, lose some, some get rained out“.  We stopped after the last shooter finished the second stage.  Then we quit when the shooting bay turned into a river.
 
For those who might be curious, the scores for the first two stages are attached.
 
For those who were anxious to shoot that match, you will probably see those stages again in August.

Mattaponi Sundowners: GATHERING ON THE MATTAPONI

Howdy All Cowboys and Cowgirls,

HOLY MACKREL!!  2022 Gathering is now one for the books!!  What a weekend!!

There is no way to THANK everyone for all of the hard work and I’m not naming names because I’ll be sure to leaving someone out but I do THANK Prairie City Slim for all of the hard work to write us such a great match!!

What a weekend!! Congratulates to Beartooth and Potter County Kid for all they have done to deserve the Regulator Status. I’m proud to be prejudice, since I’m married to one of them. Wear your badges with pride and never forget the reasons you were selected, keep being you!

Congrats to Doc Pill Filler as Overall Match Winner. Congrats Cedar Creek John, Leadford Leroy, Kuba Kid and Salty John for the shooting the match with penalty.

Howdy Guys and Gals,

Will the time for the Gathering is almost here. The weather is looking good. The stages look great and fun. We are about as ready as we can be.  If there is someone that hasn’t signed up for the match, it isn’t too late but you will be required to shoot in an established category to be eligible for an award.
